Alumna Margot Bloomstein is “Trustworthy”

Margot Bloomstein, an alumna of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design (BFA ’00) and principal at Appropriate, Inc., will soon be releasing "Trustworthy: How the Smartest Brands Beat Cynicism and Bridge the Trust Gap." The book, published by Page Two Books, looks at the way brands and businesses can find success by embracing the ideas of trust and hope in the face of cynicism.

Design Students Participate in Exchange Session With UdelaR

On Monday, November 30th, an international exchange session took place between a group of second-year design students from the School of Design and the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UdelaR). This synchronous virtual session was organized as part of the Design Studies class “How People Work,” which provides an introduction to the practice and principles of human-centered design.

Remembering Bob Swinehart

With deep and profound sadness, the School of Design has recently learned of the passing of Professor Emeritus Bob Swinehart at the age of 78. Bob taught at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design, primarily in the areas of graphic and communication design, from 1974 until he retired into emeritus status in 2010.

Sofía Bosch Gomez Presents at Transformation Trend Forum

Sofía Bosch Gomez, a PhD Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design, recently presented at the Transformation Trend Forum (TTF) on topics about how designers can face uncertainty and change as they tackle wicked problems by using Systems methodology. The TTF this year was organized by Dr. Xiangyang Xin, an alumnus of the School of Design (MDes ’02, PhD ’07).
