Design Alumna Tackles Mobile Health Interventions in Kenya

Dr. Susan Wyche, Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Industrial Design alumna from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design (BFA ’98), is currently pursuing mobile health intervention in Kenya for adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes.

Freshmen Design Students Photograph “Stuff in a Box”

A few weeks ago as part of their Photography class, freshman design students from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design were given a sealed box with a random object and asked to make interesting photographs using it. Normally, this project would take students and their objects across campus, their dorms, their studios and out into the greater Pittsburgh area, but then the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic struck a week after they were handed their objects for this project.

Master’s Students Design Mobile Apps for Choosing Contraceptive Methods

As part of their Introduction to Interaction Design Studio course, students in the Master of Arts in Design program spent 7 weeks designing a mobile experience for choosing a contraceptive method in conjunction with the Center for Women’s Health and Research Innovation at the University of Pittsburgh.
