 Welcome! In the admissions process, you’ll apply to Carnegie Mellon and select the College of Fine Arts, School of Design as the school / program where you want to be admitted. Many of your materials will go straight to the university admissions office, but you will also complete a portfolio that will be sent to us directly. The sections below give you a general overview and some links; the navigation items on the left take you to pages where you can find more detailed information about specific admissions types. We offer BFA degrees in communication design and industrial design; we participate in the interdisciplinary BHA/BSA programs; and we offer a minor in Design. Each of these has different admissions processes, as is also true if you are an international student or you want to transfer. The links on the left will provide you with more detail. Start your application All applicants to the School of Design’s four-year programs should begin by requesting an application packet from Carnegie Mello’s main admissions office. This allows the School of Design to begin receiving your other application materials.
