Kelly Caranchini Gross (ID 2002) recently completed her PhD in Art and Design Education with a focus on students with disabilities and is now serving as faculty chair of Graduate Studies of Art and Design Education at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Design alumni have been very generous in arranging for their companies to host alumni gatherings. We’re grateful for their generosity in hosting and providing comfortable spaces to mix and mingle, and letting us provide an update on the School of Design. Over the past year, we’ve held gatherings at:
New York City, Siegel+Gale, April 2013:
Mary Quandt (MDes ’99), host
San Francisco, Pinterest, March 2013:
Justin Edmund (BFA, CD ’11), host
Silicon Valley, Bould Design, July 2012:
Fred Bould & Sushma Patel (BFA, ID ’87 & GD ’88), hosts
Some of you may have missed the listing of the 75 Best Designers in Technology, which included six of our recent undergrad alumni. Was 2011 a magical year or what?
Albert Yi (CD ’11), Vivian Wang (CD ’11), Justin Edmund (CD ’11), Julius Tarng (ID ’11), David Yen (ID ’11), Sabrina Majeed (CD ’10)
Also published last spring was “Dialogues With Creative Legends: Aha Moments in a Designer’s Career” by David Calvin Laufer (BFA Graphic Design, ’72).
Kelly Nash (MDes, 2012) and James Liu (MDes, 2011) were married in April 2013, with Kristin Hughes officiating. Kelly is at Citrix, while James is at Mercedes Benz R&D.
